With the “Sports Heroines”, evoq demonstrates its creative flair in editorial design and portrays the diversity of women's and girls ' sports in Switzerland.
Making female role models visible to girls
The world of sport continues to be dominated by male role models. The IdéeSport Foundation is therefore using the 2025 Women's European Football Championship in Switzerland as a springboard to showcase the diversity of girls' and women's sport in all its facets.
With the “Sportheldinnen” stickers album, the foundation is launching a unique sticker album specifically for girls aged 8 - 12. True to the motto: If you see it, you can be it.
Target group - specific design for young readers
The particular challenge of this project lies in its specific target audience: girls aged 8 to 12. Working closely with IdéeSport, evoq is developing the editorial structure of the magazine and designing a layout concept that reflects the target audience's world without oversimplifying or stereotyping. Varied, colorful and featuring numerous illustrative elements that convey the content in a playful way and encourage browsing, reading and collecting.

Conveying sport and exercise through innovative storytelling
Instead of focusing on athletic achievements, the collection highlights the personal stories of athletes and their passion, challenges and motivation. A wide variety of sports from all over Switzerland are presented across 28 pages. The 90 athletes portrayed represent diverse backgrounds, body types and performance levels - from top athletes such as national soccer team captain Lia Wälti and slalom world champion Camille Rast to numerous passionate amateur athletes.
By focusing on the diversity of female sports heroes, the magazine creates identification potential for a broad group of young girls with different interests and abilities. That is why evoq places great emphasis on the authenticity of the role models in its imagery, combining personal snapshots with eye-catching illustrations and expressive typography. This creates a visual language that fosters closeness and conveys self-confidence at the same time.
Interactive elements such as challenges, stickers and playfull participatory activities motivate readers to actively engage with the content and above all, are a lot of fun. The magazine conveys a clear message: every girl is a sports heroine - regardless of her background, abilities or previous achievements.
A first step toward getting girls more excited about sports
The sticker album is the centerpiece of the “Sportheldinnen”-initiative. It accompanies events in the months leading up to the Women's European Football Championship and creates lasting connections with the topic - not only for girls, but also for their caregivers, youth and sports organizations and schools.
The sticker album is free of charge and will be distributed in an initial print run of 30,000 copies via various partner organizations, school, neighborhood associations, libraries and all IdéeSport OpenSunday locations. Further information is available on the website sportheldinnen.ch.
