Accompany a participatory process
The Masterplan for the Wetzikon Station Urban Space is more than just a planning document - it is a milestone for sustainable municipal development. In spring 2026, the voters will decide on the future of their neighborhood at the polls.
The vision is inspiring: a vibrant urban space is to be created around Wetzikon railway station. At the same time, a modern transport hub will ensure efficient public transport operations. Mobility, urban development and quality of life are being considered holistically and coordinated with one another. After several years of planning, the voters will have the final say. The communication strategy plays a decisive role in this process.
Making the process visible
evoq's design concept creates a recognizable framework for messages aimed at residents, politicians and voters. The eye-catching graphic elements - a reference to the Wetzikon coat of arms - attract attention and provide an attractive stage for the diverse communication needs surrounding the generational project.
Activating the voting population
The communication campaign developed by evoq serves to draw attention to the issue and highlight the upcoming vote. It is intended to complement the official voting publications.
The project website is at the heart of the communication. Here, interested parties can gain detailed insights into the current state of planning. Clear visualizations make the visions for the future tangible. Explanatory videos convey complex planning contexts in an understandable way. The transparency of the financing and the documentation of the planning steps are particularly important. A comprehensive download area documents the planning steps over several years and provides numerous documents. Finally, individuals from politics, the neighborhood and planning committees express their personal opinions in the form of testimonials.
Online communication is accompanied by flyers, which are distributed to the general public to raise awareness of the project and the upcoming vote. All advertising materials direct readers to the central project website via QR codes.
A participatory process
The planning for the Wetzikon railway station urban space is taking place as part of a broad-based participatory process, which is being moderated by the company. The process involves representatives of the population, landowners, politicians and surrounding communities. The forums facilitated by evoq and the public information event give the population a direct insight into the future of the district. The planned exhibition will provide detailed information on site while the project will also be presented with mobile exhibition elements at the city festival and the Zürcher Oberland Messe trade fair.
Schoolchildren and students make up a large proportion of daily commuter traffic at Wetzikon station. A design competition at the vocational school is raising their awareness of the issue. The result will be an eight-meter-high wooden sculpture, the Wetzikon Flame, which will draw attention to the changes at the station.
